We
love that you care about your pet enough to ask questions. Often times
we get a lot of the same questions, so we thought it would be helpful to
provide the answers before you ask them. If you happen to have more
questions that are not answered here, please call us or e-mail us and
we’ll be happy to help you out in any way that we can!
Q:
Which vaccinations does my pet need to be current on?
A:
For dogs, we require current records of Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordatella (kennel cough). For cats, we
require current records of Rabies, and FVRCP. We prefer to have the
vaccination records prior to your pet’s stay; you can simply have your
veterinarian fax a copy to us!
Q:
Do I provide the food?
A: A lot of pet owners do provide
their own food. It makes for more consistency while you are a way. We’ll
feed your pet the same amount and as often as you do at home, so he or
she will be more comfortable. If you choose to bring food from home, we
just ask that the food be put in a sealed container, as opposed to a
bag. If you don’t bring your pet’s food from home, or if we run out
during your pet’s stay, we will provide Science Diet Sensitive Stomach
at no additional cost. We will also provide your pet with food and water
dishes, unless you wish to bring your own.
Q:
Should I bring my pet’s bed and toys from home?
A:
Often times it makes your pet feel more comfortable in a new environment
if you bring their bed and toys with them because they smell of home.
Please make sure that the bed is not larger than the accommodations you
requested and can be washed in case it gets soiled. However, if you do
not bring something soft to lie on, we can provide bedding at no
additional cost.
Q:
How often does my dog get to go outside and does he get to play with
other dogs outside?
A:
We take your dog outside 4-6 times a day, so they can spend at least an
hour outside to do their business and stretch their legs in the sun.
This is weather permitting!
Colorado weather can often time be unpredictable and we
want to protect your dog from harsh weather conditions. Unfortunately,
not all dogs get along and because of this when the dogs are let
outside, they are separated from other dogs by fencing. If you would
like for your dog to play with others, look into our Playcare group!
Q: I have to give my dog medication every morning and
evening, will you be able to do the same?
A:
We will gladly administer medication for you! We require
medications be in their original bottle and dosing instructions must
match. For medications we do charge a fee of $3 per day and for insulin
injections it is $5 per day. We will make sure your pet is given the
proper attention needed for his or her medical conditions.
Q:
I’m boarding 2 of my dogs, do you offer a discount for boarding multiple
pets?
A:
If you are boarding multiple dogs of the same family and they are
sharing accommodations, we charge full price for one dog and $15 for the
second dog. If you are boarding cats and they are sharing accommodations
it is full price for one cat and $10 for the second cat.
Q: What happens in the event of an emergency?
A:
First thing we do is assess the extent of the emergency. If it requires
immediate veterinary attention we will make sure the animal is
stabilized and then contact either you or the emergency contact you
provide us with. Otherwise, we will contact you or the emergency contact
first in order to inform you and discuss what may be necessary before
the veterinarian is brought over. Any charges accrued at the
Brighton Animal Clinic will be charged through us and
collected when you pick up your pet.
Q: My dog is only 12 weeks old, can I still board him?
A:
As long as your 12 week old puppy has been given his first 2 sets of
vaccinations, it is okay to board him. Puppies under 16 weeks are
required to board in the Suite or Suite Plus, because they are more
closed off, and your puppy cannot participate in Playcare with other
dogs outside of their family. This is to protect your puppy from Parvo,
which is highly contagious.
We hope this helps! If you have further questions, we’re all ears!
